Argentina won its second-ever Oscar last Sunday for the movie “El secreto de sus ojos” or “The secret in their eyes” by director Juan José Campanella, starring Ricardo Darín and Soledad Villamil, as well as the well-known Guillermo Francella.

“El secreto de sus ojos” is the story of an unsolved murder and an unresolved love which a man sets out to resolve when he decides to write about the murder case that took place 30 years earlier.

The first Oscar award-winning Argentine movie was “La historia oficial”, or “The official story” which came out in 1985 and was about the “Dirty War” of the late 70s and 80s during the last military dictatorship.

Both movies are highly recommended!
