The Road2Argentina staff had the great opportunity to participate in a wine tasting at Anuva Wines here, in Buenos Aires in order to festejar World Malbec Day (on April 17th). Argentina is an ideal country for wines (and wine-tasting) due to the wonderful terrain. There are various reasons Argentina is famous for their harvest: plenty of sunlight and water when needed, fertile soil, and a large land area stretching from north to south.

Anuva is located in a hidden loft in Palermo. The place itself is both inviting and spacey with plenty of natural light coming in through the large windows! At the start, we were offered to choose between 4 pre-selected groups;  Malbec wine group, White wine group and 2 mixed wine groups. Each group consisted of 3 wines. In 3 out of the 4 groups, you will find the famous Argentine Malbec!

During the tasting, we were given a worksheet to write down what we experienced. This was a really interesting aspect to the tasting as often, with a glass of wine, you rarely stop to think about the “body”, “colour” or “notes”. Cara, our tasting host, was also very friendly and helpful, making the tasting experience even more lovely!

The USA, UK and many other countries offer Argentine wines, but the quantity sold is still not as much as it should be! So if you do get the chance to do an immersion program and come to Argentina I highly recommend you get out there and try as much Malbec wine as you can (even if it is not World Malbec Day)!
