Buenos Aires is an awesome city with tons to do, a wide range of restaurants, concerts, fairs, nightclubs, cinemas and outdoor activities open around the clock. In addition, there are certain dates throughout the year that many Argentines wait for- the festivals and fairs. Here are the upcoming Buenos Aires festivals for you to enjoy during your stay!
Feria Internacional del Libro: April 21st – May 11th, La Rural
The yearly International Book Fair of Buenos Aires is a must for all avid (and not so avid) readers. National and international authors take part in this exhibition making it the biggest of its kind in Latin America. At the fair, you can also enjoy some discussions, debates and courses from different exhibiting authors. More than one million people visit the Feria del Libro every year!
13th Annual Tango Championship (Tango BA): 29th April – May 10th Championship, Several locations
Starting on the 29th of April all tangueros will be busy focusing on their dancing skills as the 13th Annual tango Championship takes place. This Buenos Aires festival is held to select the couple that will represent Buenos Aires at the World Championships. The judges visit separate milongas across the city in the search of the best dancers in town! As a Roadie, you will get to participate in at least one Tango class, but if you were thinking about visiting a Milonga, this is hands down the time to do it and have the chance to see the best Tango dancers in BA.
ArteBA: 3rd June – 7th June, La Rural
Believe it or not the visual art scene in this city is huge (and recognized globally). Art enthusiasts wait every year to go to the five-day exhibition ArteBA, which displays the works of the cities emerging artists. ArteBA is visited by gallery managers, curators, artists and art critics. If you are looking for something authentic, don’t miss ArteBA!
Cuidad Emergente: 17th June – 20th June, Centro Cultural Recoleta
This Buenos Aires festival is planned by The Ministry of Culture of the City of Buenos Aires and is designed to celebrate youth culture in all its forms. At this festival you will be able to find a wide range of both emerging and well-established national and international rock bands. As well as explore street dance, digital art, fashion, street art, stand-up, cinema, poetry, theatre and interactive shows amongst other things. Be prepared to see the newest emerging artists and their works at the festival that celebrates the best of youth culture.
Whether you are participating in an internship, volunteer placement, the TEFL course or studying abroad Buenos Aires Festivals are a great way to see the authentic culture of this vibrant city!
