Joel Robert volunteered in home construction in 2008.
"I chose home construction because I wanted to work on something concrete that could be useful to others. On a typical day I would go to the "Bloquera", the site where they make the concrete blocks for building houses, and help them with whatever I could: fixing equipment, building a new roof, trying to improve the production etc. I was able to use a lot of my engineering skills. It was really interesting to hear what the people from one of the poorest neighborhoods in Buenos Aires had to say about politics. It was a very good cultural experience."
