Argentina Health Care & Argentina Safety Tips
Argentina Safety Tips
Argentina is considered to be quite a safe place but as with any country, certain precautions should be taken to keep yourself secure at all times. Please keep in mind the following Argentina safety tips during your stay:
-
It is advisable not to leave purses, luggage or handbags counters or on the backs of chairs.
-
Avoid exhibiting jewelry, important amounts of money, traveler’s checks, credit cards and other documentation.
-
When on public transportation keep your purse and/or backpack close to the front of your body where you can see it.
-
We advise you taking taxis at night, preferably calling ahead for one.
-
Always take an ID with you, since the police may ask you to show it, especially at night.
-
Try to take a form of ID other than your passport, as it is not advisable to take your passport out with you.
-
Please keep a copy of your passport with you if that is your only form of ID.
In Argentina there is tolerance towards tourists and visitors. Therefore, you should expect a warm welcome from the Argentines, who will be ready to make contact with you and help you adapt to the ways of the country. Crimes against tourists are mostly pick-pocketing and short-changing or fake bills, which are all things you can avoid if you always stay alert and follow the Argentina safety tips outlined above.
Argentina Health Care: General Information for Students
Although Argentina health care services and facilities are generally accessible to locals and foreigners alike, Road2Argentina requires that all program participants have medical insurance coverage during their stay. If you do not already have international health insurance/medical coverage you should purchase international health insurance before departing for Argentina.
Argentina Health Care: Medications/Prescriptions
If you take any medications and will be bringing them with you to Buenos Aires, please bring an amount to last you during you total duration abroad. If this is not possible, or you do not yet know how long you will be abroad, please bring a doctor’s prescription from your home. If you could have this prescription translated into Spanish before your arrival that would help out as well. Most doctors’ offices, Argentina health care professionals or pharmacies have prescription translating services or can direct you to one. |
